Benefits of Having Your Own Gym When You’re Sick

So, you’ve got a cold but you want to work out and feel like you can work out. Yet, you know everyone will look at you and avoid you like the plague when they find out you’re sick.

We all hate that feeling, which is why, after this recent illness, I’ve realized the benefits of working out at your own gym when you’re sick. Continue reading, and contact me today!

BENEFITS OF WORKING OUT AT HOME OR IN YOUR HOME GYM WHEN YOU’RE SICK

  • You don’t have to deal with the glares of others around you.
  • You don’t have to worry about getting anyone sick.
  • You can cough as much as you like with no guilt.
  • You can blow your nose conveniently without trying to hide it.
  • You don’t have to compulsively wipe down the machines.
  • You can do your own programming and listen to your body. You don’t have to do a 20-minute AMRAP when you can barely breathe. You can do light cardio instead.
  • You can work out when your body is ready, not when class is ready.
  • You can take your time.
  • You can take as many breaks as you want for as long as you want.
  • You can drink as much as you like.

I have reactive airway disease, which means when I get sick, I cough for weeks. I don’t have to deal with others staring at me, wondering if I’m gonna get them sick. This, to me, is worth every dime of my home gym. Let me know your thoughts!

Getting Back to CrossFit Training After Being Sick

So, right after the Turkey Challenge CrossFit competition, I got sick. I missed Thanksgiving and was in bed most of the weekend. I also missed 4 days of CrossFit Training, which is right before another major CrossFit competition I have coming up, the 2022 Legends Championship at CrossFit Mayhem in Cookeville, Tennessee.

Now, I have to get back to CrossFit Training, and I’m hoping I’ve learned some things.

Tips for CrossFit Training After Being Sick

  • Don’t push getting back to the gym. The gym and the training will be there.
  • Drink plenty of fluids.
  • Sleep more.
  • Try to keep eating. You don’t want to lose too much weight.
  • Maintain a positive mental attitude.
  • Stay busy; it’ll take your mind off the fact you’ve missed CrossFit training

I Have Severe Problems…

Last night, I got food poisoning.  I was up all night in the bathroom in violent outbursts.  I haven’t been sick this bad in about 4 years.  It’s funny how you forget how horrible it is.

Anyways, I missed my morning CrossFit class and am debating about going this evening. I know I shouldn’t.  My workout will be crap.  But all I’ve done is lay around in bed all day, drinking gatorade and eating crackers.  My steps are under 2000.  I feel like a complete bum.

I probably won’t go.  But it’s such a good one it’s tempting.  Instead, I’ll just do two in one day on Tuesday probably.  Because I have problems.  Severe problems….Anyone else like me?
