Frustrations With CrossFit Injuries

Hey all!

I have been completely frustrated with CrossFit injuries lately.

If you read my latest CrossFit competition post and watched my latest video on it, you would have seen how I strained my tendon. I had to do many sessions of muscle activation and massage, and it still is tight and weak.

Then, the following week, I had a rib head pop out, which is basically a rib out of place. Enter multiple chiropractic appointments and grunting through the pain during training.

My massages and chiropractor appointments hurt. None of them feel good. In essence, I’m paying for pain.

Which is what you do with CrossFit, too.

I’m really frustrated with my CrossFit injuries, and doubt and quitting creep in quite frequently.

I’d like to say I have the answers, but I don’t. I don’t even have any words of wisdom.

I’m giving my new CrossFit Games training till the CrossFit Open 2023. If I don’t make the quarterfinals, I may give up this dream altogether.

At some point, all of this becomes not worth it.

I’m not there yet, but I do feel it’s getting closer.

I knew this journey would not be easy; but I never thought it would be because of injuries. I thought it would be because of the work.

Overcoming “I Can’t Do This” in CrossFit

There is no doubt that CrossFit becomes more mental than physical as you progress in the sport.

For example, I recently did CrossFit Hero WOD Sisson. When I read it, I thought, “I can’t do a weighted rope climb.” I almost didn’t do the CrossFit workout because of it. However, I convinced myself to just try it, and surprisingly, it was easier than I had originally thought. AND it was fun! So think about what I would have missed if I had listened to the “I can’t.”

CrossFit Crossing Over Into Life

This is life, too. As the new year approaches, I am trying to decide what I want to do with the next 20 years (I know, lofty). I have all of these skills:

  • SEO and content marketing
  • Video editing
  • Drone photography
  • CrossFit (yes, that’s a skill that I am counting at least!)

So how do I combine these into something that I love doing and can grow into a business?

I have all of these blogs/websites/YouTube Channel:

If you have any ideas, let me know!

For now, I’m going to go and lift heavy in my garage and see what God reveals to me.
