Loveland Turkey Trot 2021

This Thanksgiving, my oldest daughter and I decided to run the Loveland Turkey Trot in Loveland, Colorado. We’ve never run this race, and it was a new course that was right off I-25, so it was easy for us to get to.

Overall, the course was not the best. It was run on pavement and involved two switchbacks where you ran down a road and back. It basically felt like you were running around car lots.

There was little snacks and food afterward, the results were not posted immediately, and it was very disorganized. It was a beautiful day to run, but we won’t be doing this 5k race again.

Running a 5k

For the third year in a row, my kids and I have run the Pelican Lakes Turkey Trot in Windsor, CO. This year, it was cold, but not snowy.

Both my daughter and I won 3rd place in our age divisions, and our prize was a pie.

It was fun, and I like the course. Proceeds go to Athletes in Tandem, an organization dedicated to helping athletes of all abilities participate in athletic events.

Murph and a 5k on Thanksgiving Day…

What could be better on a gorgeous Thanksgiving Day than two of my favorite workouts?

I ran the Pelican Lakes Turkey Trot where I won 2nd place and an apple pie.  And then I went to my box and did Murph.  I didn’t PR Murph (I just didn’t have the final run in me), but it was awesome and I felt amazing afterwards.image3

This was my third year doing Murph on Thanksgiving Day and my second year running the Pelican Lakes 5k and then doing Murph afterwards.  Such a great way to give thanks for this amazing country we live in and our freedoms by doing Murph on Thanksgiving Day.

To all the service men and women past and present and future I thank you!!!
