WodProof App Review

In my last blog post, I mentioned the fact that I had to do the first phase of the Turkey Challenge, an upcoming CrossFit competition, at home using the WODProof app. This is an app that allows you to record your CrossFit or other workouts easily. It has a clock in the screen, which is one of the main reasons why the Turkey Challenges wants us to use it.

I’ve done CrossFit competitions before using this app

See example video here:

The key is testing it ahead of time.

3 TIPS FOR USING WODPROOF APP

  1. Use airplane mode. They are serious about using airplane mode. I had to redo an entire 20-minute workout because I got a phone call during my taping. It causing the app to stop recording. This royally sucked.
  2. Test the export method. Make sure the video will be recorded to your phone, as well as in the app. This will make exporting it to YouTube or other video streaming platform easier.
  3. Have someone film you. I’ve set WODProof up before in the corner of my garage, but if you are moving around a lot, it’s worth it to have someone follow you around. Starbucks bribes work for my kids.

OTHER USES FOR WODPROOF

WODProof app can also be used to record your movements when you are working on technical CrossFit or weightlifting moves, such as bar muscle ups or snatches. They have an online community where you can post your workouts, too. Learn more here, or download it in your PlayStore today!

The Trials of At-Home Workouts

As most of you know, I workout primarily in my garage. I have almost everything you need for CrossFit (I’m lacking rings and a rope). That being said, working out by yourself is a challenge — especially if you are doing at-home workouts for a CrossFit competition.

THE TURKEY CHALLENGE CROSSFIT COMPETITION 2021

The Turkey Challenge is coming up next weekend in Broomfield, Colorado. It will be held at MBS CrossFit, which is supposedly as pristine of a location as you can get. I’m excited to see it.

The Turkey Challenge is usually a two-day CrossFit competition. However, due to COVID-19, Day 1 has been pushed to at-home. The challenge of working out at-home or doing the CrossFit workouts at your gym is that you are not pushed. You really have no one to work off of, so you’re on your own.

For me, the challenge was WODProof, an app that you can use to record your CrossFit workouts. It has a clock built-in and a community. However, filming yourself doing a CrossFit workout in your garage is not as easy as it sounds. I had to bribe my daughter with Starbucks right after, and it took me 30 minutes just to test the app to be sure it would work (the last thing I wanted was to have to do the CrossFit workouts again).

THE CROSSFIT WORKOUTS FOR TURKEY CHALLENGE

We had three CrossFit workouts, all in a row, with a running clock of 30 minutes. They programmed it for a 14-min AMRAP (8 alternating dumbbell hang snatches, 10 dumbbell box stepovers, and 12 wall balls) with a max power clean in the minute followed by a 7-min AMRAP of bar-facing burpees.

All around, it sucked. It wasn’t hard; logistically, it just sucked.

I did okay. You can watch the video and be the judge. Let me know in the comments, and subscribe to my YouTube channel!
