not giving up coronavirus keep living

Being Unstoppable When The World Says Otherwise

In a world that tells you to stop living, to give up your dreams, to not go anywhere, to not do anything, to fear for your life, to give up on others, to lay your plans aside, and to not trust that God has got it, in such a world, you need to be unstoppable.

You need to push back, to not believe the lies, the hearsay, the hysteria, and the antics, and to keep moving towards your dreams.

You cannot stop while you have breath in your body, while your legs can move, and your arms can reach for the stars because one day, you will be stopped.

None of us know when that day will come, which is why you cannot stop.

Don’t stop living because the world tells you not to. The world is not in charge; you are.

God will call you when He wants you. Until then, keep moving, keep living, keep dreaming, keep fighting, keep hoping, and keep praying.

Be the unstoppable force you were gifted with from the moment you were born.

Find What Will Keep You Going During the Coronavirus

Find the one thought, the one future event, the one thing you can grasp onto that will keep you going. For me, it’s CrossFit. The video below says it all:

My At-Home Gym Is the Only Thing Keeping Me Sane

If I didn’t have an at-home gym, I think I would be going insane right now. It’s the only thing keeping me sane in the midst of this insanity.

It’s my stress relief and keeps me motivated to keep pushing through these days.

I know these days will only make me stronger, but when you’re in the midst of it, it doesn’t seem like it.

One day at a time, you keep pushing, keep moving, never giving in.

At-Home Workouts Will Make You Stronger

There are two ways you can approach this stupid-ass virus: you can give in to it, bemoan your fate and what is happening in the world, or you can grow stronger from it, beat it, and not give in.

Many people have told me, “I can’t work out at home” when I tell them I work out at home. This is because they need others to motivate them.

Now, most of us are forced to workout at home.

You have two options:

  1. To not workout due to every excuse under the sun
  2. To workout and continue to be healthy and stay fit

You Will Grow Stronger By Working Out At Home

Mentally

You will grow in mental ways you never thought possible. There will be days when you will be dragging and hating every second of it (I’ve been there and still am there). You have to push through it, half-ass it if you have too since half-assing is better than sitting on your ass. You will gain a mental fortitude you never thought possible.

Spiritually

As you are running in the dark, in the rain, in the cold, hating every miserable second of it, wishing for Orange Theory’s nice treadmills and warm room, you will grow spiritually. It will just be you, nature, the birds, animals, and your own thoughts, along with God. You will gain insight into your life, and your workout will be over before you know it.

Physically

You will most likely be doing a lot of moves you otherwise wouldn’t do. There’s nothing like bodyweight exercises to whip you into shape. You will grow physically, even if you don’t have a barbell.

Emotionally

Many of us workout because it makes us feel good, it relieves stress, and we like how we look because of it. Continuing to workout will help you combat the negativity of the coronavirus and weather this storm like any other storm in your life.

Financially

You’re not paying for a gym membership, nor are you driving there and back and having to buy nice clothes for it either.

Community

Your community is your family now. Show them that the coronavirus is not stopping you from your dreams, goals, and aspirations. Teach them that you are stronger than this, and that God is in control. Go on a run with your daughter; do a CrossFit workout with your other daughter; play catch with your son. Be active, and your kids will grow up active.

You will grow stronger with at-home workouts. Still, the choice is yours.

CrossFit: When You Hate Doing Workouts That Are Good For You

There are a lot of days when I’m dragging myself to the gym. I look at the CrossFit workout, and I have no desire to go. I look at the movements, think how sore I am, and want to say, “Fuck it.”

But, instead, I either do it myself, or drag myself to the CrossFit gym. Most of the time, the CrossFit workout turns out to be really good, or I’m glad I did it.

HANG UPS ON WORKING OUT

Most people don’t work out because of this. They think how horrible it will be and what a crappy time it will be, so they stay at home, in bed, after work, and never work out — much to the detriment of their health. When truly all it takes is a shift in attitude.

Doing stuff that you hate doing that is good for you is a necessity in this world. So just do it, as Nike says!

CrossFit Competition: Women’s WOD Jam

Yesterday was Women’s WOD Jam in Denver, a women’s only CrossFit competition held at CrossFit Omnia near downtown Denver.

I entered the Open Division but was given extra points as a master’s athlete. It didn’t really help me any; I still finished somewhere in the middle of the pack.

It was fun though. I PR’ed my hang snatch at 95 pounds. My handstand push ups are stronger. So are my toes to bar. I cleaned 145 pounds twice, which was good.

Good workout. Great hosts. Good competition. Highly recommended.

Another CrossFit Competition in the books.

Yesterday, I has a CrossFit Competition with my daughter. As usual, we took last place. Overall, we had fun, but there were a lot of dopey rules that made it exceedingly hard for my daughter to compete. I did most of the work (as expected), but I’m not as sore as last CrossFit competition we partnered together.

Overall, we had fun. It was held outdoors, of which we froze the entire morning until it warmed up. However, it was so close to my home that I was able to go home in-between CrossFit WODs, eat a good lunch, and even take a nap. I wish all CrossFit competitions were as such.

A Return to Orange Theory

I put my Orange Theory membership on hold due to all of my struggles with injuries. On Saturday, I returned. I definitely felt the difference, as I was sore for most of the day. However, today when I woke up, I wasn’t sore at all.

The same went for a CrossFit workout I did on Friday that was heavy power snatches, which I haven’t done for quite some time due to my various injuries. I wasn’t sore at all.

This hopefully means I’m stronger than I was last year.

The Beauty of a CrossFit Workout

It doesn’t happen all that often but occasionally it does: the CrossFit Workout that is so perfect for you it’s not even funny. It was like CrossFit Open 20.3 with the perfect amount of reps. Today was one of those days.

First off, it had overhead squats, which I haven’t been snatching since my thumb injury so all of those felt so amazing. Then it was double unders, which I’m good at. I didn’t want to quit, that was how good it was.

I feel so amazing right now. Workout high, that’s for sure!
