CrossFit Girl Workout Annie

Almost every CrossFitter has done CrossFit Girl Workout Annie. It consists of:

50-40-30-20-10:

  • Double Unders
  • Sit ups

This is a quick workout IF you have double unders. If you don’t have double unders or struggle, this workout can be frustrating to say the least.

What Makes You Want to Quit CrossFit?

If you’ve been doing CrossFit long enough, there have probably been times where you want to quit. Maybe it’s been a particularly tough workout. Or, maybe you got injured. Or, maybe you decided the daily grind is just not worth it anymore.

For me, the only thing that makes me want to quit CrossFit is getting a massage.

My massages are deep tissue massages, and I have a lot of knots in my shoulders.

Lately, my left lat has been super tight.

My massages are painful — super painful. I clench my teeth and bare it because I know it helps. But during the entire massage session, I constantly wonder why I CrossFit.

One day, I’d like to know what a regular massage feels like; the type of massage that actually feels good.

What about you? What makes you wan to quit CrossFit?

The Danger of Doing Your Own CrossFit Programming: Plateauing

The danger of doing your own CrossFit programming is that you have a high likelihood of plateauing.

Plateauing when it comes to working out is just maintaining and not really growing your skills as an athlete.

For the past four years, I would say I’ve plateaued. I have gotten moderately stronger, but not really.

Granted, when I was injured, that was my goal — to just maintain.

Now, I want to grow stronger and become better, which is why I’ve partnered with a coach and with a nutritionist.

Koda CrossFit Iron View Competitor Camp

Last weekend, I attended a competitor camp hosted by Koda CrossFit Iron View in Lafayette, Colorado.

It exceeded my expectations. We did a lot of testing to discover our strengths and our weaknesses, got a lot of great information on competing, nutrition, sleep, and so much more.

And, Justin Bergh, the General Manager of The CrossFit Games, stopped by as a guest speaker. It was really, really cool.

reasons to train for the crossfit games www.crossfitmomm.com

Reasons I Want to Train for the CrossFit Games

I’ve been thinking about my whys for training for the CrossFit Games:

REASONS I WANT TO TRAIN FOR THE CROSSFIT GAMES

  • I have a dream. I have to do something about it.
  • This can help me with my goal to be a professional vlogger.
  • I could make a difference in others’ lives.
  • I crave excitement
  • I crave something different
  • I crave having a goal in life
  • I want to escape my computer
  • I want to have a better self-body image
  • I want to do something others don’t
  • It’s my chance to do something “big”
  • It gets me through my monotonous days

Ultimately, it gives me a why. I need a why in my life or I can sink into depression. Whether I make it or not is important, but not the end all. It’s the training and the striving that I need.

I Tried the RP Diet

As part of my CrossFit Games training, I need a nutritionist. I need to bulk, and I want to do it the right way. Well, I’ve heard great things about the RP (Renaissance Periodization) Diet. They offer a free 14-day trial, so I signed myself up.

I quickly realized this diet plan is not for me. Essentially, you decide what you want to eat. You scan and/or input what you want to eat and then the app tells you how much to eat based on your previously inputted dietary goals (losing weight, gaining muscle, etc.). This did not work for me. I did not like not knowing how much I had to eat.

You could swap out nutrition needs if you ate too much or too little at a meal. You could also pay for a professional nutritionist to help you meet your goals. In short, the RP Diet App was really complicated, and I don’t like having to scan my food. Finding the food if you didn’t enter it sucked, too.

I’ve been mainly doing the Zone Diet for the last few years, which you know ahead of time how much to eat. It works for the most part for me. Still, I will be partnering with a nutritionist to get me to where I need to be.

CrossFit is for Those Who Like Beating the Shit Out of Themselves

There are many reasons I want to train for the CrossFit Games. However, I’d say this reason reigns as one of the top one.

I truly do like beating the shit out of myself. I enjoy doing things other won’t. I enjoy making WODs harder by going heavier than prescribed. I enjoy being sore the next day.

It makes me feel alive. It makes me feel like I’m doing something.

It ultimately makes me feel like I’m not wasting my life.

Initial Thoughts About Training for the CrossFit Games

Besides the fact I’m scared out of my mind, there’s a lot of thoughts I’ve had about training for the CrossFit Games:

THOUGHTS ON TRAINING FOR THE CROSSFIT GAMES

  • It will be boring as hell
  • It will all be mental
  • It will be about believing in myself
  • It will be about having support
  • I will need more rest
  • I will need to change my training schedule
  • I’ll have to bulk
  • I’ll have to give up CrossFit WODs and competitions
  • None of this will be easy
  • None of this will be fun
  • In fact, most of it will be a living hell

So, the question becomes: Is it worth it?
